Garden club: Swanton Hill's garden club, called the Tunnel Toppers, operates an organic community garden behind the tennis court--ahem, atop the MARTA tunnel. There are 19 raised beds, each 5' x 10', that residents may rent to plant and harvest. There are typically one or two of these plots available each season.
Plot rental terms: The rental period runs from March 1 through the end of February. Members pay a one-time materials fee and an annual plot rental fee. Club funds pay for the upkeep of plot frames, the garden shed, blueberry bushes, and composting apparatus.
Rules: The garden club has just a few general rules (e.g., no chemicals, a couple of work mornings per season, and no illegal crops!). New members are asked to sign an agreement to follow the garden's specific rules.
